Brume's Dreams

Brume seems to have very vivid dreams. Perhaps they mean something more?

  • Brume has a dream that night. The rising sun of The Morninglord is bright and clear, and suddenly gets occluded by darkness. It’s as if the sun started casting shadows instead of light. Eventually the whole sun is dark, and from the darkness a pale, pallid white face appears. The face blots out the darkness and then starts a mocking laughter, causing Brume to awake in a panic, also waking everyone else.
  • Brume had another horrifying vision — a faceless man was chained to a post, surrounded by shadowy figures wearing hooded robes. The figures were all calling for the man to die, that he had to die to appease the great devil. Just as the man was stabbed in the chest, his face was no longer devoid of features, but was Brume’s face instead. Brume awoke with a scream, feeling the pain in his chest as if it had really found its mark.
  • Brume dream – There’s a man tied to a vertical wheel, like the helmsman’s wheel on the ship. At first, the man is a young man. He then becomes an old man, and as the wheel turns he keeps changing: from old man to a priest of morninglord, from priest to an angel, from angel to a demon, from demon to a dead man, and from dead man back to a young man, where the cycle renews.
  • A woman in shadow wears a wedding dress. As the woman gets closer and leaves the shadow, the human features become monstrous. Each piece of her is different, some from animals, others from more hideous things. As the light gets closer it burns away the monstrous parts to reveal a young girl inside.
  • Brume finds himself before a pool of turquoise with currents of aqua gently rippling through it. A young man, blonde of hair, falls inside the pool, and at first panics. He calms down and seems to be looking for someone or something. After what seems like a lifetime, his eyes light up, as if he had found what he was looking for. He stretches his arm upwards, reaching out …
  • Brume sees a young priest standing in a bright sun beam. The priest wears an amulet of the Morninglord, but it flashes white with its own inner light as well of that of the sun reflecting off of it. The young priest blesses a family of peasants around him, but each person he lays his blessing upon becomes sick, writhing in pain as their limbs deform. The sunlight stops shining down on the young priest but he doesn’t seem to notice. He keeps blessing family member after family member, moving from the older generations to the new, even as darkness falls around him, never realizing that those he bless come to harm, until finally the sun no longer shines on him at all.
